Sonic Offering is an evolving constellation of participatory voice meditation workshops and meditation-performances, presented in dialogue with institutions and festivals across Cyprus. Practiced with and within diverse communities and audiences regardless of musical background, the project seeks to cultivate environments of sonic freedom as spaces for collective healing, resilience, and joy. It draws on the deep listening philosophy and meditation practices of composer Pauline Oliveros, while also incorporating tools from magical practices and "magical activism".
Sonic Offering was initiated through two cycles of weekly workshops organised within artistic residency programmes between January and April 2024, culminating in a participatory meditation-performance premiered in May 2024. Along with the workshops, the latter continues to travel across and beyond the island, echoing the artist's ongoing interest in collectively exploring the transformative potential of sound. Conceived as a ritual for communal rest, the performance experiments with the format of a guided meditation, combining ambient and experimental compositional elements with soft, accessible instructions for group vocalising and poetic reflections informed by ecological and political thought.
